    I was wondering...
    St. John of ? The horse ranchers? The spanish cowboys? How does that translate. I am most familiar with Spanish spoken by people from Mexico.

    1. If you are talking about the church San Juan de los caballeros, the translation would be St. John of the Gentlemen and it has relation with the times of the reconquer in Jerez. Jerez (in the south of Spain) was occupied by the arabs and the Christians Gentlemen from Kingdom of Castilla came to reconquer the city.

    2. Gracias, Marina, how interesting. It's a very different meaning. You see, I looked at the buildings and wondered if there had been ranches because it didn't look like the meanings I knew. That's why I asked. Now, I know it also means "gentlemen"!
