SWEDEN / SUECIA

Since I read Mari Jungstedt's books I have began to appreciate more and more Sweden.  This is the reason because I like reading. The reading shows you the inside of a country, of a village, of people.

I didn't know that this red had a special origin but of course it has it. They are called houses "Falun red", the name comes from the village where the pigment were found in mines of copper. In the XVII It was a simbol  of social status painting the house in this colour, because,  they looked like the brick houses in the rest of Europe. When it was cheaper and more people could do it, then the upper clases began to paint their houses in yellow to make the difference.

I don't know so much about their gastronomy, it is amazing the use of cranberries jam in this typical dish. Of course I know  salmon, as everybody and I love it, but I would like to learn more about his tipical products  and ingredients.

DECORABLOG

I think it isn't necessary saying that I like Swedish decoration.

  1. Dearest Marina,
Swedish decorations look very practical, simple but elegant. I love that Scandinavian clean look. Our new shower very much reflects that and all our faucets we have in the home are Danish, except for one.
Always interesting to learn about different cultures, foods and its color presentation.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  6. Very interesting to learn about the paint and the way it was used to denote status! I often wondered about the red houses there and now I know! I do love Swedish style, - it is so clean and bright. Hugs, xoxo
