One of the most beautiful cultural activities I've ever lived/ Una de las más hermosas actividades culturales que he vivido

Today I want to show you one of the most beautiful cultural activities in our province of Cádiz.
You can find Bolonia Beach in the South of Spain, to 70 kilometres from my city, Jerez de la Frontera. The first Town that was set here was Baelo Claudia a Roman Town a very important place for the Roman Empire  through the fish trade

Nowadays these ruins can be visited during the whole year but it's in the summer when they organize guided tours in the night. Some of them are guided by actors disguised as romans, they use candles and aromatic sticks which transport you to the II century b.c.

They usually begin at 21:00 h, so you can see the sunset while you attend the tour, gradually the night falls and you can see beautiful images of the moon and its reflection in the sea. It's something amazing

Sometimes the tours are guided by archaeologists who knows a lot about the history of the old city  and they tell it with an enthusiasm that make you dream with the alive Baelo, with its inhabitants and its habits

Here you are some information about this year tours

I really hope some day you can come and enjoy them
Realmente espero que algún día podais venir y disfrutarlas

    1. It's really lovely and fun, once we were there with children and suddenly the actor said that the moors from africa were coming to attack the city and we had to run with him. It's very realist because there isn't electric light, only candles in the night.

  4. Dearest Marina,
You are such a passionate Ambassador for your lovely country Spain! This is culture at its very best and they do manage to weave the past and the present times together beautifully with those costumes. That will transform everybody attending back in time two thousand+ years...
Thanks for sharing this with all.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  5. It must be lovely to attend one of these evenings with the participants dressed in Roman outfits. I can just imagine the atmosphere of being in such an ancient place with the sun going down.

    1. It is Rosemary, really lovely, I was thinking of you when I was redacting this post, I knew that you were going to enjoy it ( is this last sentence ok? )

    2. Yes, all apart from the word redacting which does not exist in English - but I think that you probably meant designing or preparing!!!

      Besos
